 Dr. Winni Hofman, PHD
Virtual Educational Director
Winni has been in the field of sleep for 35 years. She obtained her PhD from the University of Amsterdam and has been a faculty member since
1976 teaching advanced sleep courses. After working at the sleep clinic of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, she moved on and
began several sleep research projects back at the University of Amsterdam. Between 1987 and 1991 she worked as senior researcher in an
advisory project of the Dutch Health Council and is also involved in a European research project on biological rhythm and sleep. In
1987 Winni co-founded Medcare, an international sleep diagnostics company now known as Embla. In 2000 she co-founded Personal Health
Institute, a dynamic technology-based company with a strong focus on R&D in advanced micro systems technology for patient monitoring
and clinical diagnosis. Over the last 5 years she developed an internet based CBT program for the treatment of insomnia.
