The Polysomnographic
Record Scoring and Interpretation
course is specifically designed for both physicians
and technologists who are preparing
for board examinations. The course will include
hands-on record review for normal and abnormal
studies. At the end of this course, the student
will be able to accurately and confidently
score all parameters in PSG recordings, and
will be able to interpret the findings and
write precise technical and physician reports.
Topics covered in this course include:
• Scoring manual development • PSG report
content • Recording parameters
• Definitions of recording parameters,
e.g. lights out, lights on, sleep latency,
REM sleep latency, total sleep time, total
recording time, etc. • Technical
and digital specifications • Impedance
and sampling rates • Recording parameters
for EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiratory variables,
snoring, oximetery, body position, etc.
• Filter and sensitivity settings
• Digital recording • Data
analysis • Sleep stage scoring rules
• Arousal scoring rules •
